DWG AutoCAD Drawing

Autodesk's AutoCAD is a leading software program in the field of Computer Aided Design (CAD). It is renowned for its support of the native DWG drawing format. It has the following features:

  • DWG Format: The native file format of AutoCAD, which can store both 2D and 3D geometry data, as well as project metadata, such as layers, blocks, dimensions, etc. DWG files are compatible with many other CAD applications and can be easily shared and edited.
  • AutoCAD Add-ons: Our Automesher Application and Automapki Application are add-ons for AutoCAD that allow you to import and export 3D and GIS data from various external file formats, such as STL, SKP, OBJ, SHP, KML, etc. These add-ons enable you to integrate geospatial data with your CAD designs and create complex 3D models from different sources.
  • ObjectARX Technology: The customization technology for AutoCAD provided by Autodesk, which we use to develop our AutoCAD add-ons. ObjectARX allows us to access and manipulate the AutoCAD objects and data, as well as the user interface and commands. ObjectARX ensures that our add-ons are fully compatible and integrated with the AutoCAD environment.

SHP ESRI Shapefile

A file format specifically designed by Esri company to store georeferenced shapes. It is widely used in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for its ability to represent a variety of geometries and their associated data attributes. It consists of the following components:

  • SHP Geometries: The shapes that define the spatial features, such as points, lines, and polygons. Each geometry has a unique identifier and a spatial reference system that specifies its location on the earth’s surface.
  • SHP Attributes: The data that describe the properties of the geometries, such as name, type, area, population, etc. Each attribute has a name and a data type, such as string, integer, float, etc.
  • SHP Files: The physical files that store the geometries and attributes in a binary format. A SHP shapefile is actually a collection of at least three files: a .shp file that contains the geometries, a .dbf file that contains the attributes, and a .shx file that indexes the geometries.

SHP Files Converter: SHP shapefiles are widely used in various GIS applications, as they offer a simple and efficient way to store and manipulate geospatial data. One of these applications is our Automapki Application, which is an add-on for AutoCAD, BricsCAD, and ZWCAD. It allows you to import SHP shapefiles into the DWG model space and export DWG drawing entities to SHP shapefiles. This enables you to easily integrate geospatial data with your CAD designs and share them with other GIS platforms.
